A 55-year-old tourist was attacked with a knife while walking on a sidewalk in a trendy New York City neighborhood, police said Wednesday.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital that the stabbing occurred in broad daylight at approximately 10:23 a.m. in the Upper West Side neighborhood.
Police said the 55-year-old man was slashed on his left ear and left cheek during a seemingly random attack. The victim was taken to a local hospital after being stabbed.

The suspect fled after the attack, authorities said. Surveillance footage obtained by Fox News Digital showed the suspect fleeing the scene. He was found with a knife.
The NYPD continues to investigate this incident.

The stabbing occurred just two days after a knife-wielding man was charged with killing three people on Monday.
