Two New York City government departments are using a photo of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce screaming in coach Andy Reid’s face during the Super Bowl to front a public warning campaign.
NFL fans may remember that early in Super Bowl 58, Kelce was seen on the sideline biting Coach Reid in the face, then getting frustrated and punching the old man. Kelce later apologized for his ignorant actions.

Now, the New York City Department of Transportation… I used an image In order to promote anti-car policies, new york post report.
Borrowing Kelsey’s shout-out, the station told X: “Street parking occupancy in New York City is less than 0.5% of outdoor dining. Public space is for everyone, not just cars.”

Many X users found the whole campaign strange. One commenter wondered why the public had to be told by DOT that the road was made for transportation, not restaurant tables.
It’s crazy that we have to tell the “Department of Transport” that the roads are made for cars.

Some wondered why the DOT would weigh in on political issues when their job is not to lead policy discussions, only to implement them.
@Nick Benson, @vinbarone, @ydanis…
Here’s the deal…Personally, I like the idea of eating more outdoors, but many people don’t. It’s not your job to impose your opinions or even have opinions. This post happens to be about a topic we are working on…

Is this the official DOT account? Does your office not have a code of ethics?

I remember when the New York City Department of Transportation was concerned about traffic. Those were the days!

The Department of Transportation isn’t the only government agency in the Big Apple using Kelsey to advance its agenda.
The city’s Department of Buildings also used the image to warn building owners to stop unauthorized construction underground.
“Do not excavate the basement floor without blueprints and permits,” reads the DOB in the X (also in all caps).

Some X users accused city authorities of launching anti-Semitic attacks against Jews in light of reports that several weeks ago several students were digging in the basement of the global Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters. .
