NYC’s eclipse forecast shapes up; Texas not so lucky

According to the weather forecast, the skies in the Northeast are likely to become brighter the moment they darken.

Those hoping to catch a glimpse of Monday’s solar eclipse in New York City are in luck. That’s because forecasts are shaping up for this rare event. But a storm hitting Texas is likely to put a damper on that historic day.

Monday’s possible thick cloud cover in the Big Apple is gone, and with temperatures expected to hover just above 60 degrees, it will be a nice afternoon to watch the moon pass over the sun. 91% of the moon will be visible from the city around 3:25 p.m.afternoon

“You can’t expect good weather this time of year,” said Fox Weather meteorologist Dax Clark.

Instead of spring showers and cloudy skies, the five boroughs will see only about 10 percent cloud cover, and clouds may pass by near the Great Lakes, but eclipse glasses will be needed anyway.

Totality, or complete coverage of the sun, can be seen from Buffalo, and the previously gloomy forecast is improving. “If you’re going to see this in New York, trends are your friend,” Clark said.

The Total Trail also covers parts of the Finger Lakes and Adirondack Mountains, spanning 15 states from Texas to Maine.

According to NASA, more than 31 million people live within its path, and an additional 150 million people live within 200 miles.

“Maine could very well be the best place to watch,” Clark said, which is surprising for this time of year for the region. Vermont and New Hampshire also offer great views of this spectacle.

About 1 million tourists are planning to head to Texas to watch the solar eclipse, as several Texas counties fall into total orbit. AP

Clark noted that Texas typically has clear skies in April, but is expected to be almost completely covered in clouds, which could make it the worst place to see the eclipse. . As the moon crosses the sun, a severe thunderstorm system enters the Lone Star state, causing several days of storms and flooding.

Over 400,000 people Plans to meet in Dallas In all, at least 1 million tourists were expected to head to the state, which has several counties within range of the total solar eclipse, for the event.

In New York City, the sun will be even warmer, with temperatures reaching 70 degrees on Tuesday.
