A wrong-way driver struck an NYPD officer Wednesday afternoon, minutes after police responded to an unrelated robbery at a luxury clothing store on the Upper East Side, authorities said.
Police said a group of crooks allegedly broke into the Mackage store near East 68th Street and Madison Avenue around 4:20 p.m. and stole about $10,000 worth of clothing, including expensive jackets. .
The suspected thieves fled in a black Lexus, abandoning it at East 72nd Street and Park Avenue.
Police said an officer from the 19th Precinct was standing near the suspect's Lexus when he spotted another vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lane.
A police officer approached and ordered the driver to pull over.
The female driver hit the gas pedal, sending the officer flying into the side of the car, the NYPD said.
She was arrested on the spot.
Charges against her were pending Wednesday night.
The officer was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he underwent a CT scan for possible head injuries and scans of his injured leg and arm, police said.

Police say the driver is not connected to the Madison Avenue robbery.
Meanwhile, the suspect in the Madison Avenue robbery has not yet been captured.
