The New York City Police Department has come under fire after its dance team performed on a local television station, raising concerns that officers are focusing more on dancing than fighting crime.
Critics asked X (formerly Twitter) for comment on the dance team’s performance.
“Mayor Eric Adams cut another $100 million from education this year, but he still managed to find the money for the NYPD to form and promote a dance team,” one critic wrote.
“Fire the NYPD dance team and hire more cops,” another user wrote.

Another user commented: “NYPD dance team? Please tell me I’m kidding.”
Nicole Parker, a former FBI agent and FOX News contributor, told FOX News Digital that this is not only disturbing, but deeply concerning.
“I think it’s outrageous, it’s offensive, it’s offensive to taxpayers, it’s offensive to women in law enforcement. As a woman in law enforcement, I find this degrading. It’s embarrassing. I look at it and think it’s completely inappropriate.”

Parker added that working in law enforcement is a very stressful job, and while it’s okay to have fun and de-stress, it should be done on your own time, not taxpayer money. .
“If you need to do it, you should do it on your own time. This is not appropriate at a time when violent crime is constant in New York City. This is not keeping our community safe and is very worrying.” ,” Parker said. He said.

Founded in 2022, the dance team was intended to serve as a place for police officers to relax after work. The dancers practice two to three times a week and perform at schools, galas and other events around the city, according to Fox 5 New York.
The dance team is one of about 50 teams in the NYPD’s sports division, including boxing, paintball, hockey, rugby and baseball.
But this latest performance has many critics concerned about safety, as crime continues to run rampant across the city at an all-time high.
“I support blue, but I can’t support this. I guarantee you the criminals are laughing. Do you think the criminals will respect you? You know you? How are you going to gain the respect of your colleagues and community when you’re doing this? ” Parker said.
The New York City Police Department released citywide crime statistics for January, revealing that robberies increased by nearly 6% and grand larcenies increased slightly. Officials added that crimes on subways and transit systems, which account for just 2% of all major crimes in New York City, increased by 70 crimes in January (222 vs. 152) in the index crime count.
Despite the latest increase in violent crime last month, authorities continue to see declines in most major crime categories compared to the first month of last year, including significant declines in murder, rape, robbery and felonies. It is claimed that it continues.

On January 27, two immigrants allegedly attacked two New York City police officers in Times Square. A week and a half later, on Thursday, February 8, an immigrant teenager allegedly shot and killed a woman at a Times Square clothing store and then fired at an NYPD officer.
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (RN.Y.) said in a statement to FOX News Digital that recent crimes involving immigrants have pushed Democratic leadership “over the edge.”
“Over the past two weeks, New York City has seen groups of immigrants assaulting NYPD officers, shooting officers, and snatching cell phones to commit identity theft and financial fraud. “This is on top of the 1,200 immigrants arrested for crimes such as robbery, stabbings, assaults, and even murder,” said Rep. Malliotakis.
Parker said this latest stunt is very different from previous NYPD situations.
“As I watched this NYPD dance, 23 police officers heroically died in the line of duty, and others led me and the thousands of New Yorkers who worked in and near the World Trade Center. “It’s hard to believe that this is the same police station that was safe on the morning of September 11, 2001,” Parker concluded.
The NYPD and Adams’ office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital.
