NYPD hunts for suspect who slashed straphanger in NYC subway station

A 24-year-old man holding a strap hanger was slashed by a maniac in a Manhattan subway station early Monday morning, police and officials said.

The victim was purchasing a MetroCard on the mezzanine floor of Midtown’s 47-50 Street-Rockefeller Center Station around 12:20 a.m. when an unidentified man crept up from behind and struck him in the right side of his face with a knife. I slashed. authorities said.

The suspect then fled the station on foot. Law enforcement officials said it was an unprovoked attack.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition with “severe lacerations” to his face, police said.

No arrests have been made. The NYPD released footage and images of the suspect they are searching for Monday night.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white hoodie and brown pants.
