This week on the Upper West Side, parents are holding on to their kids a little tighter after two men were recently spotted masturbating outside two schools.
Administrators at Central Park Montessori, a preschool and preschool program on West 91st Street, sent a notice to parents on Wednesday about a disturbing incident that occurred the previous day as students were dismissed from school.
The note said that a parent had noticed a man masturbating across from the school and managed to capture the creepy scene on camera.
Police were called, but by the time they arrived the suspect was already gone, one grieving mother, who asked not to be named, told The Washington Post.
“People are sick,” said one father, who also did not want to be named.
“It was good to know what he looked like.”
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed they received a report of indecent conduct involving an “individual” on Tuesday. [who] He was observed exposing and touching his genitals across the street at 1 West 91 Street.”
Police are continuing their investigation and have increased patrols on the school grounds, especially during dismissal times.
“There's a whole mix of emotions,” her mother explained.
“I'm very grateful that the parents took clear photos of my son and reported the incident to the school. I'm really impressed with the school's response. I feel a responsibility to do more.”
The parent said he plans to lobby the NYPD to find the man who masturbates.
“I feel like it's my job to make this their number one priority and ensure that this man is caught and put behind bars,” she said.
That same day, on Tuesday, a man was seen masturbating across from PS 075 Emily Dickinson School on West End Avenue, next to a sign for a kindergarten admissions event, according to a parent who caught the man on camera before he left the area.
It is unclear whether the same person is behind both incidents.
An NYPD spokesman said no reports had been filed about the West End Avenue incident.
