New York City police shot and killed a knife-wielding suspect in Brooklyn on Friday who they say was suspected of three counts of murder.
Brooklyn PD officers were attempting to arrest Vilmonde Jean-Baptiste, 38, on Friday evening when he lunged at officers with a knife, police said. During a search of his Brooklyn apartment, police said they found Baptiste hiding fully clothed in a bathtub.
NYPD Commissioner Jeffrey Madeley said officers ordered Baptiste out of the bathtub and realized he had a knife. Police ordered him to drop the weapon, but he instead began moving toward the officers, police said.
One officer used a stun gun to try to stop Baptiste, but it was unsuccessful, police said. At least three officers then opened fire on Baptiste, Madeley said. Paramedics rushed Baptiste to the hospital, but he died from his injuries.

As police loaded Baptiste into an ambulance, a crowd quickly gathered at the scene, and one man could be heard screaming, “He shot my brother. He killed my brother for nothing,” according to the New York Daily News.
Footage obtained by Fox News Digital showed the crowd yelling and throwing objects at police.

Baptiste was wanted in connection with three murders, including the murder of a 54-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man whose bodies were found in the city in July. Both victims had been stabbed to death.
The other case involved 66-year-old Claudette Jones, who was found stabbed to death in her apartment in late August.

“My brother didn't have a gun,” his brother said. “They could have dealt with him differently. I want to see the body camera footage to find out what really happened.”
When asked about the murders Baptiste is allegedly involved in, his brother reportedly replied, “Nobody is perfect.”
