Oakmont Finally Prohibits Wyndham Clark After Locker Room Incident

Well, it finally occurred.

About a month after professional golfer Wyndham Clark had a major outburst at the 2025 US Open in Oakmont, the course’s management decided to ban him from the premises.

“Some of you have inquired about the situation concerning Wyndham Clark and the actions we’ve taken following his recent behavior,” club representative John Lynch stated. “After several discussions with the USGA and the OCC Board, it was determined that Clark would no longer have access to the OCC Properties.”

“This decision remains in effect unless it is formally reviewed and approved by the Board.”

Reportedly, after making the cut, Clark entered the well-known Oakmont Locker Room and began throwing items in frustration. Photos afterward revealed that two of the locker screens were bent and damaged.

Clark later expressed remorse for his actions, saying, “I made a mistake that I truly regret. I’m very sorry for what happened. However, I want to focus not just on myself, but also on Oakmont, the USGA, and the upcoming events for the rest of the year.”

Of course, he wants to move forward. But reality check: you can’t lose your cool and think it won’t affect such a historic golf club. That behavior is simply unacceptable. Interestingly, this wasn’t even Clark’s first outburst this year; he also reportedly damaged a driver and tee marker during the PGA Championship at Cool Hollow.

For what it’s worth, I believe Rory McIlroy should also face repercussions for damaging the tee marker and removing his club in the U.S. What a move.

Oakmont’s challenging course took a toll on many players this year at the US Open. A rough shot can almost ruin your entire day. I’ve witnessed numerous golfers get upset over misdirected shots.

But frustration doesn’t justify acting out like someone who can’t manage their emotions. Golf is largely a mental game, and Clark seems to be struggling with that.

By the way, this guy apparently has a sports therapist, as I found out in the Netflix series “Full Swing.” Maybe it’s time for a change there!
