Oasis reunion on the cards as Noel and Liam Gallagher tease Tuesday announcement | Oasis

While many fans believed a reunion would never happen, word on the street is that an Oasis tour is definitely on the way, possibly in 2025.

Some of the biggest hints at a possible reunion have come from former frontman Liam Gallagher and brother Noel Gallagher, who have been fuelling speculation on social media.

A short video with the Oasis logo-style date “27.08.24” was shared on Sunday night by the official Oasis account as well as Instagram and X’s accounts, with a flashing black sign saying “8am.”

Liam Gallagher spent much of Sunday responding to the X rumours, writing “I never liked the word ex” and sharing several news articles reporting on the reunion rumours. The singer, who headlined Reading Festival on Sunday night, dedicated the Oasis song “Half the World Away” to his brother, and later dedicated his follow-up hit “Cigarettes & Alcohol” to people who allegedly hate the rock band.

At the end of the concert, the same footage was projected on the stage’s main screen, previewing Tuesday’s performance.

According to various reports, the band are set to play 10 nights at Wembley Stadium and 10 nights at Manchester’s Heaton Park – both venues where the band played some of the final shows of their “Dig Out Your Soul” tour before splitting up in 2009.

If approved, it would break the record held by Taylor Swift, who played eight nights at Wembley Stadium earlier this year.

Fans reacting to news of a possible reunion tour next year have told X, “Heaton Park [is] “That’s the worst thing for a concert venue,” Liam replied. “See you out front, big ass.”

There has also been speculation the band could headline next year’s Glastonbury festival, with their last headlining show in 2004 being regarded as one of the worst of the band’s career.

But despite 15 years on, Oasis’ popularity seems undiminished, with a younger generation of fans enjoying their music just as much as the older Britpop kids who attended their first gigs.

This year, Liam Gallagher performed to sold-out crowds on his solo tour in support of the band’s first album, ‘Definitely Maybe’, and this weekend he headlined festivals in Reading and Leeds. Next year marks the 13th anniversary of the release of the band’s smash-hit second album, ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’

With Oasis’ line-up evolving over the years, many fans have begun to speculate who else might join them in a reunion, apart from the Gallagher brothers.

For many, the dream line-up would be the one at the height of Oasis mania in 1995. Original guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs was a mainstay in Liam Gallagher’s solo band for years, while his successor, Jem Archer, has played guitar in Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds since 2017 alongside late Oasis drummer Chris Sharrock.

However, original bassist Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan has been absent from the music industry since leaving Oasis in 1999, and his replacement Andy Bell now plays in former Oasis label-mates Ride, so it seems unlikely he will take part in a reunion tour.

The Gallagher brothers have long had a strained relationship and have reportedly not spoken to each other for years after Noel left the band following an argument before performing at the Rock en Seine festival near Paris in August 2009.

However, if rumours are to be believed, the animosity seems to have eased. Liam even hinted at a possible reconciliation on Christmas Day 2017, tweeting: “Happy Christmas to the NG team. It’s been an amazing year. Thank you for everything. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. As always. LG x”

The incident sparked rumors of an Oasis reunion that have not yet completely died down, and with speculation rife that an announcement could be made as early as Tuesday, the Oasis reunion may finally be finalized.
