Former President Barack Obama and presidential candidate Kamala Harris criticized President 47’s conduct on Thursday night, labeling it as “unconstitutional.”
During an on-stage interview at Hamilton University in Clinton, New York, Obama reproached Trump for his initiatives aimed at controlling illegal immigration, which sought to properly size the federal government and invigorate the economy as part of his “America First” strategy.
“It’s hard to believe that the same political party currently silent has permitted such actions from a group like me and my predecessors,” Obama stated.
Obama asserted that Trump’s reciprocal tariff strategies would not benefit the nation, though he confessed to being more concerned about alleged infringements of his rights.
“I am more invested in the federal government threatening universities if they don’t support students exercising their free speech rights,” Obama exclaimed.
“The notion that the White House can dictate to a law firm. If you represent a party we disapprove of, we withdraw all our business or sabotage proper representation. – Such actions are against the fundamental agreement we have as Americans.”
In a video addressing the summit, defined by a prominent woman, Harris expressed that she was not taken aback by Trump’s actions.
“There were numerous developments we anticipated. I didn’t say I warned you,” she remarked.
“We observe organizations remaining silent. We note individuals clearly facing unconstitutional threats. These are occurrences we observe. Daily in our nation’s recent months, it inevitably fosters a significant sense of fear.”
However, Harris mentioned that many could rise to confront Trump.
“Fear can be contagious. When one individual feels fear, it tends to spread to those nearby, and we are witnessing that,” she explained.
“But I also say this, my dear friend, courage is contagious too,” Harris added.
