Obama Responds to Trump’s Claims Over Russian Investigation

Former President Barack Obama’s office has reacted to recent accusations made by President Donald Trump regarding the 2016 Russian collusion investigation. Obama referred to Trump’s assertions as “bizarre.”

In a statement released Tuesday, Obama’s spokesperson Patrick Rodenbush firmly denied Trump’s claims that he was the “ringleader” of the investigation.

“Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response,” Rodenbush said. “But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one.”

He further described Trump’s allegations as “ridiculous” and potentially designed as a distraction. “Nothing in the document issued last week undermines the widely accepted conclusion that Russia sought to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes,” he added.

Rodenbush also noted that these findings were confirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, which was chaired by Marco Rubio at the time.

Earlier in the day, Trump claimed that Obama should be prosecuted for allegedly orchestrating false intelligence regarding Russian interference during the election in which Trump faced Hillary Clinton.

“It’s criminal at the highest level,” Trump stated, referring to documents released by Tulsi Gabbard. “It would be President Obama, he started it. And [Joe] Biden was there with him, and [James] Comey was there, and the whole group was there.”

Trump continued, suggesting that this was treason and a concerted effort to undermine the election results.

Additionally, last week, Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, released a report claiming to provide “overwhelming evidence” that Obama and key members of his national security team worked to undermine the results of the 2016 election through the Russian collusion narrative.

According to Gabbard, the Obama administration aimed to reject the decisions made by American voters and propagated a “politicized piece of intelligence” intended to justify a prolonged coup against President Trump.

“It lays out, these over 100 documents that you’re referencing, that I declassified and released, spells out in great detail exactly what happens when you have some of the most powerful people in our country making an intentional decision to create this manufactured intelligence,” Gabbard told Sean Hannity.
