Former Obama Aides Allegedly Attempt to Conceal Intel Revelations
NBC has reported that some former aides to President Barack Obama may be trying to suppress emerging information regarding a purported plot involving Obama and his top intelligence chief, aiming to connect both Obama and President Donald Trump to Russia.
Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard has referenced confidential documents related to allegations of manufactured intelligence. These documents encompass intelligence assessments from 2017, during Obama’s presidency, managed by his top intelligence officer, John Brennan, along with then-FBI Director James Comey and James Clapper, all of whom posited that Russia had meddled in the 2016 election to favor Trump. The intelligence community reportedly criticized the media frenzy surrounding Russian interference, particularly highlighting claims from a controversial opposition research dossier financed by Hillary Clinton.
Gabbard indicated that she has made a formal introduction to the Department of Justice regarding a campaign connected to domestic intelligence during the election.
According to unnamed sources from Obama’s camp, his allies would prefer the public remain unaware of these developments. “The fight now is to regenerate this so that ideas don’t start to creep into the mainstream,” a former Obama administration official told NBC.
This same source mentioned that they are counting on “mainstream Republicans” to help dismiss the allegations against Obama as insubstantial.
The Justice Department and FBI have raised questions about the timing of the recent classification, especially considering their announcement in early July indicating no new information related to Jeffrey Epstein had emerged. Gabbard’s working group has been active since April, focusing on addressing espionage and advocating for declassified information.
Interestingly, a newly released document didn’t make headlines in major publications like the New York Times or the Washington Post on July 24, even though the papers shared a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of Russian election interference and Trump campaign collusion, relying heavily on anonymous sources. The Pulitzer Prize board is currently facing a lawsuit from Trump over the legitimacy of this award.
Obama, through a spokesperson, denied any involvement with the alleged fraud, describing the claims as “ridiculous and weak attempts at distraction.” The spokesperson, Patrick Rodenbush, asserted that the recent document contradicts earlier conclusions that Russia attempted to influence the election without altering vote outcomes.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously commented on the 2016 election, asserting it was legitimate despite the claims of interference.
Furthermore, in conjunction with the House Intelligence Report, Gabbard has indicated that intelligence analysts found no evidence that Russia could have tampered with voting machines. Notably, an intelligence briefing meant for Trump on December 8, 2016, was not presented, as approval was revoked by Comey’s FBI. Consequently, Trump, despite receiving daily briefings since November 2020, was unaware of this intelligence. The day after the missed briefing, Obama gathered national security personnel to address the Russian interference issue.
Reflecting on the situation, Trump referred to the events as a “rebellion,” indicating the possession of various documents related to this matter.
