Japanese Prime Minister Celebrates Barron Trump’s Birthday

During a dinner at the White House on Thursday, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi extended birthday wishes to Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Trump. He jokingly noted that it’s apparent where Barron got his good looks.

With President Trump beside him, Takaichi began his speech by acknowledging, “I’d like to offer my heartfelt congratulations on these two important anniversaries.” He then continued, “Donald, tomorrow is your son Barron’s birthday. I know he has turned into quite a tall, handsome young man.” He added with a smile, “Looking at Donald, it’s very clear where he got it—from his parents, of course!”

The lighthearted comment brought laughter from attendees, including the President himself. By the way, Barron wasn’t actually on the guest list for the dinner but will be turning 20 on Friday.

Takaichi, often referred to as Japan’s “Iron Lady” for her conservative stances, didn’t stop at birthday wishes. She also congratulated the U.S. on its 250th anniversary. “The United States has long served as a symbol of freedom and democracy,” she stated. “On behalf of the Japanese government and its people, I want to extend my warm congratulations to you and the American people.”

This event drew attention, with Takaichi expressing excitement over the upcoming Freedom 250 Grand Prix. The race will take place in Washington, D.C., during the celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary. “In this race, the engines of Chevrolet and Honda will come roaring to the National Mall,” she mentioned enthusiastically.

Furthermore, she highlighted that the IndyCar Series is sponsored by Japan’s NTT Group, calling it a “great example of U.S.-Japan friendship.” She wished success for the racing event, signaling a shared excitement for both nations.

The Prime Minister also reiterated Japan’s gesture of gifting 250 cherry blossom trees to the United States in honor of its history. He expressed regret over not being able to bring a bouquet on his visit to Washington, saying, “The original plan was to bring a bunch of cherry blossoms and hand them to you in person, Donald, but unfortunately, due to strict quarantine measures, that wasn’t possible.” He playfully mimicked carrying flowers, adding a personal touch to his apology.
