Giants Eye New Head Coach

The New York Giants have identified a leading candidate for their next head coach.

Chris Shula, the current defensive coordinator for the Rams, is reportedly the frontrunner, according to Calci, a financial trading and prediction market based in New York.

Shula, who is 39 years old and has been with the Rams since 2017, holds a 28 percent chance of securing the position, making him the likeliest candidate in a competitive field.

Following Shula is Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, who has a 22 percent chance of being hired. His team faced a controversial elimination from the College Football Playoff just recently, which might add some drama to his candidacy.

Mike McCarthy, formerly head coach of the Cowboys and Packers, and Lou Anarumo, the Colts’ defensive coordinator, are both tied with a 19 percent chance of taking the job.

Additionally, there are a couple of other candidates with more than a 10 percent likelihood: Clint Kubiak, the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks, sits at 14 percent, and Jeff Hafley, the Packers’ defensive coordinator, at 10 percent.

Shula’s defensive strategies this season have been noteworthy, as his squad ranks fourth in EPA per play, which is an impressive statistic through the first 14 weeks.

Since early December, both Freeman and McCarthy have consistently been favored in Calci points.

The Giants find themselves further into their coaching search, having parted ways with Brian Daboll on November 9. His tenure was marked by a disappointing 2-8 record this season and a 20-40-1 overall record during his three years at the helm.

In a joint statement after Daboll’s firing, co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch acknowledged the frustration among fans, emphasizing their commitment to improving the team’s performance going forward.
