Odds for the next Raiders coach: Klint Kubiak rises as the top choice

Odds for the next Raiders coach: Klint Kubiak rises as the top choice

The NFL coaching carousel is winding down, and it seems the Raiders still hold one of the most sought-after positions.

Following Pete Carroll’s departure, a variety of candidates were brought in for interviews, including Brian Daboll, Joe Brady, and Jesse Minter, but one name has clearly risen to the top.

Clint Kubiak appears to be the frontrunner for the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach position, boasting a 68% probability of taking on the role, especially considering his potential as the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator, as per Prediction Market Calci.

There’s a notable gap between Kubiak and the second favored candidate, Broncos passing game coordinator Davis Webb, who stands at 21%.

Then there’s Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, with a mere 5% chance, and former Bills coach Sean McDermott trailing at 3%.

Kubiak has been in discussions for nearly every head coaching vacancy, but as the Seahawks thrived in the playoffs, many opportunities slipped away from him.

He was part of building a robust Seahawks offense, notably with quarterback Sam Darnold, despite his tumultuous journey through various teams.

Seattle ranks 10th in offensive DVOA, while their defense impressively holds the top spot.

Interestingly, the Seahawks’ offensive unit’s DVOA indicates a strong passing game, rated fifth, and a 14th-place ranking in rushing.

The Raiders, meanwhile, have a decent offensive lineup, featuring Ashton Giunty and Brock Bowers as standout players to support highly anticipated draft pick Fernando Mendoza.

Tom Brady is among those spearheading the search for a new head coach in Las Vegas.

The team’s offensive line is notably the weakest in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus, which is a significant factor for whoever steps in as the new manager.

Additionally, their defense requires considerable improvement, possibly paving the way for McDermott’s inclusion, although he hasn’t had any interviews since his exit from the Bills.
