Odell Beckham Jr. hits back at Dolphins fan over injury skepticism

Odell Beckham Jr. is already feeling comfortable in his new home.

The new Miami receiver fired back at Dolphins fans who expressed skepticism about his health as he returns from an injury that put him on the physically unable to play list, referencing the team’s infamous Will Fuller V signing.

“I really don’t know why people are so interested in me.” Beckham writes: Wednesday night at X. “I was chilling out working in the dark but our world just finds a way to get more clicks when we just need Shxt.”

Fuller signed a one-year, $10.6 million contract with Miami for 2021, but his season ended with a broken thumb in Week 4. He was not re-signed and has not played for another team since.

Beckham responded again to the same account, showing that he puts the people inside the Dolphins facility first.

“Oh, great! I’m sure if you keep posting stupid stuff for clicks you’ll start seeing answers.” Beckham wrote sarcastically.. “Anyway, everyone here (the team and the people in this building) knows what’s going on. Only time will tell how the rest of the story plays out. Thanks for your concern.”

The 31-year-old signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Miami this offseason but has yet to practice or play in a preseason game as the regular season approaches.

“He’s working his way back onto the field,” head coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday.

The former Rookie of the Year wasn’t as dynamic during his one-year stint with the Ravens in 2023, appearing in 14 games and finishing with 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

Beckham won Super Bowl 56 with the Rams, but although he scored a touchdown in that game he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and has never been able to repeat the level of play he showed early in his career.

The three-time Pro Bowler will miss the entire 2022 season while recovering from an injury and is expected to be Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s third option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

In fact, Beckham hasn’t had 45 catches or 600 yards in a season since 2019, when he was with the Browns.

Miami has two preseason games remaining, against the Commanders on Saturday and the Buccaneers on Aug. 23, before opening the regular season against the Jaguars on Sept. 8.
