In 2018, the New York Giants signed Odell Beckham Jr. to a five-year contract extension, but then-general manager Dave Gettleman proudly declared, “We did not sign Odell to trade.”
Well, a month after that season ended, he was shipped to the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster deal.
But Beckham's tenure in Cleveland ultimately turned sour.

The wide receiver and his father were upset with the way he was used, and he was ultimately released in 2021 before signing with the Los Angeles Rams, who won a Super Bowl that season.
Now a member of the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens, Beckham remains friends with many of his teammates in Big Blue and continues to show his love for the Giants organization.
But even at the time of the trade, Beckham still has a bad taste in his mouth considering Cleveland was a laughing stock for so long.
“In my mind, I feel a little bit like the Giants sent me off. Like I said, they sent me to Cleveland to die,” Beckham said on the show.punchline podcast. ”

“I could have gone [San Francisco] Could have gone to the 49ers; [New England] Patriots. He could have gone to a team with a chance to be great, but that wasn't what they wanted. ”
Beckham was traded for offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler (ironically now a teammate with the Ravens) and two picks, one of which led to All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.
But Beckham said the Giants were more concerned about failing their receivers than what the return package was.
“You can't say, 'This was the best trade package we could offer you.' Your desire was to piss me off a little bit, that's how I feel,” he said. Ta. “I know it feels like I made fun of you and the organization, but that wasn't my true intention. I'm just that competitive. I wanted to win. I've always wanted to win. I was thinking that.”

“I felt like it was a bit of a mean move.”
The Giants reached the playoffs once during Beckham's tenure, but lost to the Green Bay Packers after an infamous boat trip in early 2017.
Beckham has a chance to win a second ring with the Ravens. He recently called the Ravens the best team he's ever been on.
