‘Office’ Co-Creator Stephen Merchant Blasts Left for Policing Jokes

Author and actor Stephen Merchant has slammed the left for cracking down on jokes.

in a recent interview Observer Magazines, retailers Said:

“There’s always been surveillance in comedy, there’s always been guardrails. The difference is, it used to feel like the right was watching. Now it feels like the left is watching. And the right is watching the speech. It feels like a pretty big change.”

“As a stand-up comedian, I’ve found myself being more careful because I don’t want to spend weeks on Twitter justifying a joke I’m experimenting with. Firefighting is exhausting.”

She added, “Everything else is off limits, so it’s a tough thing to navigate when you’re trying to be creative.”

Merchant is more than just a writer. He and Ricky Gervais co-created, co-wrote and co-directed two of the greatest sitcoms in history.original british version office and extra. of office, merchant talked The obvious: “I mean now. [The Office] It will be cancelled. I’m looking forward to seeing them pick one thing and try to cancel it. ”

He said, if office He has no problem if today is cancelled. “Okay, let me cancel. The money has been paid!”

office The premiere dates back to 2001 and already took as its premise the sensitivity of our culture. extrapremiered in 2005. officeIn , star Gervais played the legendary David Brent, an awkward, self-centered, inept but sympathetic character who always says the wrong thing about race, sex and everything else. BenefitsMost of those hilarious moments were played by Gervais’ co-star, the wonderful Ashley Jensen.

Nowadays it is impossible to produce these shows, so I own the hard copies of the DVDs. And Merchant isn’t exaggerating about the show being canceled retroactively. Four years ago, the fascist, far-left BBC stopped broadcasting John Cleese’s classic 1975 episode. defective toweris widely regarded as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time.

“This episode contains a racial slur and we will be removing it whilst we review it,” BBC’s Wakewords Police explained. “We regularly review our older content to make sure it meets our audience’s expectations and we are particularly aware of the impact of older language. Some shows carry a warning whilst others have been edited.”

The “outdated word” mocked racism.

The left’s larger purpose behind all of this is to keep us divided. When we laugh at ourselves, we unite. A common culture is created when we laugh at our own shortcomings and stereotypes. This is anathema to the left. They reveled in insensitivity and truthfulness, but no one got mad at Richard Pryor or George Carlin’s stand-up shows. I’ve never heard of any fights or riots occurring at stand-up shows. Humor and laughter bring unity, which goes against everything the left needs to pursue its fascist social and political policies.

The political right tried and failed to crack down on entertainment for an entirely different reason. Whether you agree with it or not, the right wanted to stop our culture from becoming too vulgar. I’m not in favor of censorship of any kind, but I am sympathetic to their goal.

There is nothing noble about the Left’s policing of speech and jokes. Their goal is demonic and dangerous: to enslave our minds to the Borg collective.
