A Miami-Dade Police officer who detained Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill on Sunday has been reprimanded, law enforcement officials said.
Miami-Dade Police Chief Stephanie V. Daniels released a statement about the disciplinary action: The officer, whose name has not been released, has been taken off the street.
“Following the incident involving Tyreek Hill, I have initiated an internal investigation to thoroughly examine this matter,” Daniels said in a statement. “One of the officers involved in the incident has been placed on administrative duties while the investigation is ongoing.”

“I am committed to transparency and accountability to the community in all situations involving my officers.”
Hill was found handcuffed near Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday morning, hours before the Dolphins were set to play the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Dolphins said in a statement that Hill was “briefly detained” in the incident. ESPN reported, citing a source, that Hill was charged with reckless driving.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, called the incident “heartbreaking” in an interview with ESPN.
Miami-Dade Police said they had requested an “immediate investigation” into the incident.
“I am aware that Miami Dolphins player Tyreek Hill was recently detained by officers with the Miami-Dade Police Department,” Daniels said in a statement to ESPN before announcing the punishment. “I have requested an immediate investigation into all details surrounding the incident, and we are also reviewing available body camera footage. We will provide updates as new information becomes available.”
Hill played against the Jaguars on Sunday and finished with 130 yards on seven catches, including an 80-yard touchdown catch.
