A missing 5-year-old boy in Ohio has been found dead, and his adoptive mother has been arrested and charged with murder, the Columbus Police Department announced at a press conference Friday morning.
Darnell Taylor has been missing since Wednesday, and police feared for his safety after his adoptive mother, Pammy Mae, 48, woke her husband in their Columbus home to tell him the boy was injured. . Taylor was found dead by police around 1 a.m. Friday in a sewer drain in the 1000 block of Marsdale Avenue in southwest Columbus, after May gave her location to the Columbus Police Department.

Police arrested May in a nightgown in the Cleveland suburb of Brooklyn around 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her car was found at the nearby Parkview Estates apartment complex. Brooklyn is approximately 240 miles from Columbus.
“The investigation has reached a critical point. We have very disappointing news,” Chief Elaine R. Bryant said at a news conference.
“This is a tragic development… Although this is not the outcome we wanted, we will do everything we can to bring justice to Darnell.”
Bryant said police cannot release details about the boy’s death because the case is currently a homicide investigation.
The Jeep believed to have been driven by May was found in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Brooklyn, Ohio, several hours after the Amber Alert was issued. The vehicle was about 240 miles from his home in Columbus, where the incident first started.

May was also charged with kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and child endangerment, a third-degree felony.
The couple had been Taylor’s legal guardians since May.
