A University of Dayton student died last week while studying abroad in Rome, according to a GoFundMe set up by family and friends and local reports.
Connor DiNapoli, a 21-year-old marketing major, “passed away suddenly,” says the description of a GoFundMe page titled “Supporting the DiNapoli family after their tragic loss.”
“This loss has devastated the family and they are burdened not only with deep grief but also with the unexpected financial burden of arranging the funeral,” the statement reads. “Anyone who knew Connor and his kind heart knows he had the kindest heart and was a great friend to many children in our community.”
DiNapoli died on June 27th. Local news station WDTN. There was no immediate information available about the circumstances of his death.

“Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to Connor’s family, friends, faculty and staff, and our entire campus community,” the university said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.
The university’s Chapel of the Immaculate Conception “will be open for anyone who wishes to say a prayer or light a candle in memory of Connor,” the university said, adding that it plans to hold a memorial for DiNapoli when students return to campus in the fall.

“The university is also providing support to UD alumni overseas. Staff from the campus pastorate, Student Affairs, Residence Life and the Counseling Center are working with all those affected by this loss,” the university said.
