Ohio girl, 7, begged her dad not to kill her after murder-suicide threat: ‘I don’t want to go to heaven today’

A 7-year-old Ohio girl begged her father not to kill her before he shot her because his father threatened to kill her during a standoff with police, the girl said. Please go to heaven today. ”

Charles Ryan Alexander, 43, abducted his daughter Oaklyn from her grandmother's home in Jefferson County on November 11th. Alexander did not have legal custody of the child.

According to the Medina County Sheriff's Office, the girl was the subject of an Amber Alert and a police pursuit began after the Brunswick Police Department located her in the city of Brunswick. The driver refused to pull over despite attempted traffic stops, and multiple jurisdictions joined in the pursuit.

Police eventually used stop sticks to deflate Alexander's tires and force his car to stop, leading to a standoff with police in the parking lot.

Audio of Alexander's communications with law enforcement revealed an armed father threatening to kill his daughter and himself. According to WKYC.

“I'll shoot you both, stand back!'' he shouted.

In the background, Oaklin could be heard repeatedly pleading with his father not to carry out the threat. “Please stop,” she said.

Alexander also threatened the girl's mother, telling her, “I want to talk to her mother. If you're listening, Ashley, you should have called.”

The girl then asks her father, “Are we both going to heaven?''

“How do we know we're going to heaven?” she asks.

The father replied, “We'll both go.''

Oaklin continues to ask his father questions.

“Am I going to heaven?” she asked. But when she realized what it meant to go to heaven, she exclaimed, “No!”

“I don't want to go to heaven today,” Oaklin could be heard telling her father, who responded, “I didn't want to either. I just wanted to talk to my mom.”

The 911 dispatcher then told Alexander, “I know you didn't want to get hurt.” [your daughter] And you didn't want this to happen. ”

“Let's not do anything that can't be undone,” the dispatcher added.

Oaklin repeatedly asked, “Are you going to heaven today?” and at one point is heard yelling, “I don't want to go!”

Another dispatcher tells Alexander, “If you don't want to scare her, just keep talking to her.”

“Don't do anything that's going to be even more unfair to her. I know you're doing this because you love her,” the dispatcher said.

Police eventually fired several shots at Alexander, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oaklin was safely returned to his family after the shooting.
