The announcement is scheduled for around 1 p.m.

Mr. Vance notified the Senate of his resignation on January 9, and it was formally announced the next day. He officially resigned 10 days before Trump and the next president were sworn into office.

“Dear people of Ohio, I am deeply grateful for the privilege of serving as your representative in the United States Senate. When I was elected to this office, I promised to never forget where I came from and to make sure I lived. “I live up to that promise every day,” Vance said in a statement.

He has served our country with great honor.” And now, as our 50th Vice President, we are extremely grateful for JD's unwavering support from its earliest days. A truly amazing journey for an outstanding person! ”

Once the new senators are sworn in, Republicans will officially have a 53-vote majority.
