A man suffered “serious injuries” after being struck by a roller coaster traveling at high speed at Kings Island amusement park in Mason, Ohio, police said.
An unidentified 38-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday after being struck by a Banshee roller coaster at the park about 30 minutes north of Cincinnati, according to the Mason Police Department.
Police were called to a report of a person “lying in one of the restricted areas” near the 4,124-foot inverted roller coaster, which has a top speed of 68 mph.
Police said the victim allegedly dropped his keys while riding a rollercoaster and entered a fenced-in restricted area to retrieve them.

Police said the man was in the restricted area when he “appears to have been struck by a vehicle.”
He was deemed seriously injured.

He was taken to a local hospital and then flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.
The extent of the man’s injuries was not immediately clear.

“We were sitting in the front row and towards the end of the coaster we saw a man’s body lying face down on the grass below the coaster,” one person wrote. “We’re not sure if he was alive or not.”
“This is my first time here this year and I thought this was just a prop for the Haunted Hill section of the amusement park,” another wrote. “Does the Banshee ride low enough that it will hit someone jumping over the fence?”

The Banshee roller coaster will remain closed while authorities investigate the incident, a park spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital.
