Massachusetts Mime Charged with Harassment

A mime in Massachusetts has taken the art of silent absurdity to a troubling level. The 29-year-old, identified as Hernan Villagran Lux, was taken into custody on Sunday evening near the Cochituate Rail Trail, a popular recreational area. State Police recognized him due to an existing warrant.

Lux is reportedly known for wearing a distinctive black and white mime outfit while moving through public spaces in suburban Boston. Recently, three female employees from the Department of Conservation accused him of harassing them, claiming that he threatened them over a period of several months.

“One woman alone reported more than 50 escalating encounters over about two months,” a representative from the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said.

Lux is active on social media, often posting videos that showcase his mime performances—some even feature him in costumes that include suits, top hats, and a face covered in white powder. However, he has also shared more revealing posts, including photos of himself wearing just underwear, with captions primarily in Spanish.

According to the allegations, the women recognized Lux by his name and appearance and reported feeling “truly uneasy and frankly frightened” due to his persistent attention, which included unwanted looks and smiles. It’s noted that one interaction escalated to Lux allegedly peeling off his clothes, applying cooking oil on himself, and exercising near a staff area.

During his arraignment, the situation took a strange turn; while facing the court, Lux fainted and required medical assistance. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the judge requested a mental health evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital. Lux’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 6.
