Oliver Bearman prepares for an important weekend at the F1 British Grand Prix

Formula 1 UK Grand Prix: A Landmark Event for Teams and Drivers

This week’s Formula 1 UK Grand Prix serves as a significant event for various teams, their members, and drivers.

It’s particularly special for one driver.

Oliver Bearman is heading to Silverstone for his debut home race as a Formula One driver, calling it a “landmark” occasion.

“This weekend is going to be incredibly special as it’s my first home race as an official Formula 1 driver,” Bearman shared during a media preview for the UK Grand Prix.

Reflecting on his journey, Bearman recalled participating in FP1 at last year’s British Grand Prix, where he finished in P14. That was the moment when it was confirmed that he would be joining Haas, and now he’s embarking on a full-time season with them.

“Last year, announcing my Formula One contract and taking part in FP1 was extraordinary, but I could only envision what this weekend would feel like,” Bearman said. “I got a taste of the British support at the F1 75 live event in February and have been eagerly anticipating this week ever since.”

Adding to the significance, the British Grand Prix will also feature Bearman’s younger brother, Thomas, who will compete in Formula 4 as part of a non-points round during the weekend.

“It’s a proud moment for my family and me, especially since my brother is racing at the same event. Silverstone is one of the top tracks on the calendar, and it’s always thrilling, especially with the weather being a wild card!” Bearman added.

On the other side of the garage, Esteban Ocon is also gearing up for what feels like a return home.

“Silverstone truly feels like home for Formula 1, especially since many teams are based nearby, making this race special,” Ocon noted. “The kind of support we receive in the UK is always something we don’t quite expect before arriving, and saying goodbye is an emotional experience.”

He further described the track, saying, “It has a rich history, filled with high-speed corners; racing there is an absolute blast. Plus, the unpredictable weather tends to open up exciting opportunities throughout the weekend.”
