Olivia Dunne celebrates LSU gymnastics’ SEC championship

LSU gymnastics star Olivia Dunn was in a great mood after the Lady Tigers won their fifth conference title Saturday night in New Orleans.

The Lady Tigers, ranked No. 3 nationally, finished with a top score of 198.075 points. Highest place on the program at the championship — at the 2024 SEC Championship inside the Smoothie King Center.

Dunn and his teammates celebrated in the locker room, as seen in videos and photos the 21-year-old NIL leading scorer shared on social media.

“SEC CHAMPS BABYYY,” Dunn captioned a TikTok video showing a purple and yellow confetti celebration and the SEC Championship trophy.

“Oh my god!!!” The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model posted a photo on Instagram of the team crowding around the trophy and Dan appearing to kiss it.

The Tigers, who finished the regular season as the No. 1 team in the conference, began the competition on vault, then rotated to bars and beam before finishing on floor.

Kiya Johnson led the team on bars with a score of 9.825, and Ashley Cowan tied her career high with a score of 9.950 for second place.

Dunn, from New Jersey, placed third in his second bar appearance of the year, scoring a 9.800.

The Lady Tigers finished beam with a score of 49.475, the second-highest score in program history.

LSU scored a 49.450 on bars, which was LSU’s second-highest score in that event at the conference championships.

This was the LSU gymnastics program’s fifth SEC championship title in program history. This includes his third consecutive title from 2017 to his 2019 following his first conference title in 1981.

Combined, there were five individual SEC champions in this tournament: Hailey Bryant, Ashley Cowan, Connor McClain, KJ Johnson and Kiya Johnson.

Next up is the 2024 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, in April.
