Sunny Hostin Calls Olivia Nuzzi’s Actions “Unethical”

On Thursday, Sunny Hostin, a co-host of “The View,” criticized Olivia Nuzzi, a former reporter for New York Magazine, labeling her actions as “unethical” amid recent allegations regarding inappropriate relationships.

Nuzzi, who is set to publish a book detailing her supposed “sexting” relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his presidential campaign, has also faced accusations from her ex-fiancé, Ryan Lizza. Lizza alleges that Nuzzi was involved with Mark Sanford, a former governor and congressman from South Carolina.

Hostin compared Nuzzi’s situation to a lawyer having an affair with a client or a prosecutor with a witness, emphasizing that such behavior falls below professional standards. “It’s unethical,” she remarked. Co-host Joy Behar added that Nuzzi’s alleged actions diminish the integrity of journalistic work.

Following the scandal, Behar mentioned that Nuzzi has now taken a role as the West Coast editor at Vanity Fair, suggesting that this undermines her position. “I can’t see how I can trust her as a journalist,” she stated.

Despite the backlash, co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin offered a defense for Nuzzi. She expressed that while she wouldn’t personally engage in such situations, mistakes happen, and those shouldn’t necessarily define a person’s entire career. Griffin voiced her hope that Nuzzi will publicly address the allegations, noting her talent as a journalist.

As of now, Nuzzi has not made any public statements in response to Lizza’s allegations or Hostin’s critique. Lizza shared that he found a note from Nuzzi in their Georgetown home back in 2020, alluding to a potential relationship with Sanford, raising concerns about its impact on their book project and personal lives.
