Olivia Rodrigo Joins FC Barcelona for El Clasico

Olivia Rodrigo, a prominent figure among Gen Z, is set to feature on FC Barcelona’s jersey. The club revealed on Friday that they’ll don a special edition shirt showcasing Rodrigo’s emblem during the El Clasico against Real Madrid on May 10. This initiative is part of their ongoing collaboration with Spotify.

Alongside her recent single, “Drop Dead,” Rodgers also has a third studio album coming out later this year, which has her particularly fired up about working with Barcelona.

“When I put on the FC Barcelona jersey for the El Clasico, I honestly don’t know how to handle it,” the 23-year-old singer expressed in a statement.

This kind of collaboration isn’t new for Barcelona. Since Spotify took on the title sponsorship in July 2022, the club has previously teamed up with other big names like the Rolling Stones and Drake. Nevertheless, Rodrigo is surely the youngest artist they’ve partnered with so far.

Barcelona will offer both men’s and women’s jerseys, including a limited edition signed by Rodrigo. Additionally, there is a kit autographed by the entire starting lineup from both men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming match.

Merchandise is plentiful, featuring tote bags, scarves, travel mugs, t-shirts, and more.

The products were launched on Friday and are available for purchase at the FC Barcelona store. Fans can find them on the team website, Rodrigo’s official site, and various locations in Barcelona.

Furthermore, a signed limited edition jersey will be auctioned after the game, priced at $4,700.

Rodrigo is also scheduled to give a special concert on May 8, which will be invitation-only. She mentioned, “Performing in Barcelona for fans who have supported us from the start means everything to me. I can’t wait to meet them.”

In addition to the match festivities, Spotify plans to launch a unique Olivia Rodrigo-themed playlist in the days leading up to the game.

This clash is not just about music; it’s crucial for La Liga, with Barcelona currently sitting nine points ahead in the standings with five matches left. The stakes are noticeably high.
