Rookie Running Back Ollie Gordon II Reacts to Penalty in Dolphins Game
In a tense moment during Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II was visibly frustrated after being penalized. The penalty came at a critical juncture, just as Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had completed a 36-yard pass to Jaylen Waddle, a play that could have moved the team closer to scoring.
It was a bit perplexing, as Gordon was called for tripping a defender who had charged at Tagovailoa. From what I saw, it seemed like he barely touched the guy, if at all. The penalty wiped away what could have been a significant play, and despite this setback, Gordon walked off the field smiling. However, he later had an animated exchange with associate head coach Eric Studesville on the sidelines, apparently needing to cool things down among his teammates.
Gordon was drafted by the Dolphins from Oklahoma State University in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Up to this point in his career, he’s accumulated 110 rushing yards, along with a touchdown over just eight games. Additionally, he’s made five catches for 27 yards and another touchdown reception.
As for the game itself, Baltimore took a 14-6 lead midway through the second quarter, thanks in part to quarterback Lamar Jackson’s impressive return from injury, throwing two touchdown passes to Mark Andrews. Dolphins kicker Riley Patterson managed to slot two field goals, keeping Miami in the game.
Both teams entered the match desperately seeking a win, with Baltimore holding a record of 2-5 and Miami slightly behind at 2-6. It certainly set the stage for a competitive evening on the field.
