Miami Dolphins Facing Frustration After Ravens Loss

Things aren’t going well for the Miami Dolphins, and tensions are rising.

During Thursday night’s game against the Ravens, which ended with a disheartening score of 28-6, a noticeable conflict seemed to unfold between Miami’s running backs coach, Eric Studesville, and rookie back Ollie Gordon II.

Earlier in the second quarter, Gordon received a tripping penalty while the Ravens were ahead 14-3. Many observers criticized this call as questionable, and it ended up negating a significant 35-yard play by Jaylen Waddle, which would have positioned Miami closer to scoring.

Following the penalty, both Gordon and Studesville exhibited their frustration. Gordon, visibly upset, removed his helmet and slammed it to the ground, prompting teammates to step in and try to soothe him.

As a result of the penalty, the Dolphins found themselves pushed back to their own half of the field, forcing a punt.

To add to the team’s woes, Gordon injured his ankle towards the end of the quarter and did not return to the game.

Coach Mike McDaniel later addressed the controversial penalty, describing it as a result of “a man off balance,” reflecting Gordon’s belief that he had not committed a foul.

The situation on the sidelines seemed chaotic, with assistant coaches and backup running backs appearing to argue. At this point, McDaniel’s job could be in jeopardy; despite a contract extending through 2028, there’s speculation that he might not finish the season, or could even be let go in the offseason.

Next up, the Dolphins will face the Bills and Commanders, before hosting the Saints and Jets—games they might have a better chance of winning.
