UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has said that former two-division champion Conor McGregor is a drug addict and needs rehabilitation, after the former champion mocked his past suspension for using banned substances.
The latest spat between the fan-favorite duo appears to have started after McGregor re-shared an old video in which O’Malley claimed to have received information that Ostarine contamination could occur through sweat transfer.
McGregor’s deleted post X simply showed the video along with a laughing emoji.
“Athletic ability is so-so. Mentally weak. Drug addict in need of rehabilitation.”
Ostarine is a substance known to be effective in increasing muscle mass and strength, and reducing fatigue.
O’Malley has been suspended twice for Ostarine, most recently 2020.
Citing a since-deleted McGregor post, O’Malley said he was “still a fan,” but added that he doesn’t care what McGregor has to say because he has lost most of his recent fights.
after 5 minutes, post In the segment, which was viewed by more than 2.1 million readers, O’Malley slammed McGregor and launched a scathing attack on his character.
“Connor is not with anyone.[s] “It’s about the GOAT,” he said, referring to being the greatest of all time.
“Highly entertaining, low technique. Great left hand. Terrible cardio. [jiu jitsu]He has average athletic ability. He is mentally weak. He is a drug addict and needs rehabilitation. He has 1 win and 4 losses in his last 5 games. [a] I’m a fan though. I hope the toe heals.”
In a recent altercation in May 2024, the two indirectly exchanged words on the same issue after top boxer Ryan Garcia tested positive for Ostarine in both of his samples.
At the time, McGregor made one of his many outrageous comments, offering to fight both O’Malley and Garcia.
“This Ostarine reminds me of Sean O’Malley. [he] There was that too. “No thanks I’m gonna beat the crap out of you both, wanna spar? I’m gonna get you both on a flight right now so you can get some serious sparring. Hotel is Black Forge Inn. I’m gonna ride those two little ostarine heads #letssparomalley and #garcia like ostriches. What the hell is going on. What are you thinking?” he added.
A few days later, on his podcast,Timbo Sugar Show” O’Malley responded, but made no mention of performance-enhancing drugs, instead joking and accusing McGregor of being high on cocaine when he made the comment.
“Yeah yeah, Conor, screw you!” O’Malley joked. “He was just on a little rant on Twitter, saying some snotty, sugar-coated crap,” he continued.
“I was more sad than angry. I can’t wait to see Michael Chandler beat the hell out of him. I’m gonna show up and change right away, dammit Connor!” he said with a smile. “Idol turns rival.”
“He was clearly having a lot of fun. I think the tweet was deleted quickly, but it is what it is.”
McGregor is reportedly set to face Michael Chandler at a yet to be determined date following the cancellation of his previous bout, while O’Malley is yet to schedule his second title defence.
