Fast Track Airport Service
Those who own residency status benefit from high-speed truck services at the airport, the ability to hire up to three domestic workers, and the privilege of owning one property outside of local tourist facilities accessible to non-Mani holders.
There are several paths through which applicants can qualify. These include purchasing real estate within integrated tourist facilities, holding development bonds for at least two years, investing more than RO200,000 in publicly listed stocks, maintaining fixed bank deposits of RO200,000 for five years, or owning a company that employs a minimum of 50 Omani workers with a capital of RO200,000. Alternatively, companies can submit multiple nominations if they meet the capital requirements under the Foreign Investment Act.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) highlighted that this program aims to channel funds into strategic sectors, reinforcing Oman’s image as a stable and investor-friendly environment. “The Golden Residency is more than just a permit; it’s a commitment to establishing a balanced ecosystem that merges opportunity with quality of life,” noted Nasima Bint Yahiya al-Barsi, who leads the Investor Services Centre. She further mentioned that Oman ranked fourth globally in the Quality of Life Index for 2024.
“Distinguished Companies” Initiative
During the Sarara event, collaborative efforts between the “Distinguished Companies” initiative, the Ministry of Labor, tax authorities, the Royal Omani Police, and the Oman Chamber of Commerce acknowledged high-achieving Omani firms.
Companies were evaluated based on governance, effectiveness, and contributions to the economy, considering factors like revenue, Omanization rates, export success, and overall compliance.
In addition, Omani authorities have rolled out new digital services to facilitate the transfer of commercial ownership via the national business platform, starting with coverage for one company and sole proprietorship. This step aligns with the country’s broader push for digital transformation.
To promote the program internationally, Oman has joined forces with Alam Al Hijrah (Migration World), a recognized consulting firm with an extensive global network. Their role includes running targeted digital campaigns, getting involved in major investor events, and forming strategic partnerships in collaboration with MOCIIP.
The Golden Residency Programme reflects Oman’s aim to lower the initial minimum investment threshold of RO250,000, seeking to compete with nearby countries that have already launched similar long-term residency options.
