Vance Critiques Omar’s Past Statements on White Nationalism
Vice President Vance recently took aim at Senator Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) over remarks she made seven years ago.
In a ten-minute video, Omar discussed the need for “profiling, surveillance and policy creation” to address the radicalization of white individuals.
This clip resurfaced this year, catching Vance’s attention, who denounced Omar’s comments. He labeled it as “genocidal language,” referring to her as “a dishonorable person” in a post.
Omar has since defended her statements, backing them up with data. She pointed out that in her annual report over the past eight years, she highlighted the increase of white nationalism, noting that white supremacists account for 78% of “extremist-related murders.”
This issue has been consistently tracked, with 2021 reports indicating that over the last decade, at least 73% of murders tied to right-wing extremism were committed by white supremacists.
Omar, a naturalized American citizen originally from Somalia, continues to face substantial opposition from Republican lawmakers.
In February, House GOP members even circulated petitions aimed at her deportation following her strong criticisms of the Trump administration.
