One person dead and 11 injured in Texas shooting — shooter has died

Midland, Texas Shooting Incident

At least one person has died and nearly a dozen others are injured following a shooting in Midland, Texas, as reported by Mayor Lori Blong.

This morning, law enforcement responded to calls about gunfire at a building located on West Wall Street. Midland Police Chief Greg Snow stated that armored units were brought in, and a standoff occurred with the shooter.

“We do have 11 known victims at this time,” the mayor mentioned during a press conference. “There’s at least one victim that is dead on the scene.”

According to a hospital spokesperson, nine victims have been taken to Midland Memorial Hospital. The spokesperson noted that out of those, five are in stable condition while four are undergoing surgery.

Mayor Blong indicated that multiple law enforcement agencies, including SWAT, were involved and that the suspect was “contained.”

The city of Midland announced via X that it was aware of the situation and that safety personnel were responding. They requested the public to steer clear of the area.

As the incident unfolded, the city later confirmed that the suspected shooter had been killed.

“The active shooter incident has been resolved, and the suspect is confirmed deceased,” the city reported on X.

Despite the resolution of the incident, the scene remains active, and road closures in the area will continue as the investigation is conducted.
