One person killed, another in critical condition following bold Easter Sunday shooting on a New York City street

A gunman indiscriminately shot two men on a Brooklyn street this past Easter Sunday, resulting in the death of a young man and leaving another in critical condition, as per grim surveillance footage and reports from officials.

According to the New York City Police Department, officers arrived on Fulton Street, between Cleveland and Elton Streets in Cypress Hills, shortly before 6 p.m. to find a 30-year-old man and a 50-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The two men, whose identities have not been disclosed, were transported to Brookdale University Medical Center in critical condition, but the younger man was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police noted that several individuals connected to the shooting were also taken into custody.

Just moments after one of the men seemed to speak to the group, a man dressed in a gray jacket and light-colored pants brandished a firearm, unleashing a barrage of shots toward him and another individual, per the video.

The distressing footage captured the gunman continuing to fire even as one of the victims lay motionless on the ground.

As the gunman drew his weapon, another man in black attire and white sneakers began to retreat from the scene.

Authorities quickly descended on the area, with shocked bystanders captured in photographs as they noted numerous shell casings scattered about.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, along with the relationship between the individuals involved. Officials indicated that the investigation is still in progress.
