Only 1-2% of Black People in Modern America Have Better Lives than Slaves

80s rock singer John Mellencamp says that living conditions for nearly all blacks in America today are no better than they were during the days of slavery.

Starring Bill Mahers club random podcast, jack and diane The singer made the outrageous claim that “only 1% or 2% of black people in America” have a better life than slaves did 200 years ago.

Luckily, Maher didn’t sit idly by as the white rocker made these ridiculous declarations.

While addressing the issue, Mellencamp claimed he wrote a song he never produced and denounced sports as another form of slavery.

“I wrote a song I never recorded because I thought it was wrong, and it was called ‘From the Facking Cotton Fields to the Playing Fields.’ What I mean is, yeah, so what? We white people love to be entertained by black people,” Mellencamp told Maher.

Maher, however, disagreed with this, saying that the “field of play” was far superior to the “field of cotton.”

“I think the arena is much better than the cotton field. That’s what I’d like to say about it. Maybe I’m crazy John, but I can’t make any money as a cottonpicker slave.” It wasn’t as good as playing left field for the Yankees,” Maher said.

Mellencamp went on to make the absurd claim that only 2 percent of blacks live better now than they did when they were slaves 200 years ago.

“There’s no doubt that there’s one or two percent of black people in America who have a better life,” exclaimed the “Small Town” singer.

Maher was shocked by the radical leftist’s allegations and said, “Oh no. Do you think so? One percent, two percent?”

“Okay, let’s say 10%. I’m just pulling numbers out of my butt,” Mellencamp admitted.

Maher joked that Mellencamp’s numbers were for him, adding, “I’m saying it’s not true.”

Of course Maher is right. In fact, while blacks reach the middle class at a lower rate than whites, the difference is not that big.according to pew research About half of all racial groups in the United States belong to the middle class, with 47 percent of blacks and Asians achieving middle-class status. In contrast, 49 percent of Hispanics and 52 percent of whites also reached that economic class.

Mellencamp’s claim that only 2% of blacks are richer than slaves seems a little dubious, since nearly half of blacks in America live in the same economic situation as about the same proportion of whites.

For example, if you take Mr. Mellencamp’s rants seriously, half the white Americans are living like slaves.
