Only 9 percent of young Americans say US ‘headed in the right direction’: Survey

A new poll shows that only 9% of young Americans believe the country is heading in the right direction.

investigation, Released on Thursday Less than 10 percent of voters ages 18 to 29 say the country is generally heading in the right direction, according to a survey by the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics. About 58% of respondents said the country is heading in the wrong direction.

However, more than half of young Americans say they will vote for President Biden in the November election, and 53% of those surveyed said they are definitely voting for President Biden overall.

Biden has been under pressure to improve his approval ratings among young voters since the presidential election. The president has been pushing for student loan relief to appeal to young Americans, a key voting group for him in the 2020 presidential election.

In a new poll, 27% of young Americans say the economy is the national issue they’re most concerned about.

As for other issues that young voters care about, 45 percent of registered young Americans said they follow news about the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Furthermore, when asked whether they thought Israel’s response to date was justified, 45% said they were unsure. The poll found that 32% said they believed the response after the Oct. 7 attacks was not justified.

When it comes to immigration, 53% of young Americans said they believe there is a crisis at the U.S. southern border. Meanwhile, 50% agreed with the idea that immigration improves American culture, the survey found.

The poll was conducted between March 14th and 21st among 2,010 young Americans. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.02 percentage points.
