Only way to keep Trump out of the White House is at the ballot box

President Biden said Thursday that a vote in November is the only way to keep former President Trump, who was convicted in a New York hush-money case, out of the White House.

“The only way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office is at the ballot box,” Biden said. Said On X, he shared a link to donate to his campaign.

Trump was found guilty by a jury of falsifying business records to hide an alleged affair during the 2016 election campaign, making him the first former U.S. president to be convicted.

Biden is not expected to speak on Thursday after the verdict, as the president is in Delaware marking the ninth anniversary of the death of his son, Beau Biden.

Asked for an official reaction to the verdict, White House investigative spokesman Ian Sams said: “We respect the rule of law and have no additional comment.”

Meanwhile, the Biden campaign released a statement saying Trump would be the Republican nominee for president despite a conviction.

“Today in New York we saw that no one is above the law,” said Michael Tyler, Biden’s communications director.

“Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed that he could break the law for his own personal gain and with impunity,” he added.

Tyler also asserted that Trump is a threat to democracy – a warning the Biden campaign has repeated in recent months – and repeated his claims that Trump’s campaign is “madness” and about “revenge and retaliation.”

Trump’s campaign also used his conviction to raise funds on Thursday.

“I have just been convicted in a rigged political witch hunt trial. I did nothing wrong!,” his campaign said in a fundraising email. “They searched my home, arrested me, took my mugshot, and now they have convicted me!”

“But with your help at this moment in history, we can take back the White House and Make America Great Again!”
