Operation Epic Fury: Trump achieves what years of diplomatic efforts could not

Operation Epic Fury effectively dismantled Iran’s leadership in a matter of days, significantly limiting its capacity to threaten the West and aligning various Middle Eastern nations with American interests temporarily.

It’s still early days, but President Trump has marked a considerable strategic achievement by reinstating a time-tested principle: peace through strength.

However, many Democrats have criticized the president’s decision to strike, holding on to the belief, rooted in the previous administration, that lifting sanctions and engaging in diplomacy with Iran could lead to peace. Conversely, some conservative commentators express concerns about the potential for a prolonged conflict in the region.

The criticisms overlook the nature of this mission and the rationale behind it.

First, Trump’s directive for military action wasn’t a dismissal of diplomacy; it acknowledged the futility of negotiating with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Eight U.S. presidents have sought to engage with Iran since 1979, only to find that after decades of hostile actions, making a deal is simply off the table.

Weak diplomacy, which fails to ultimately incorporate the possibility of military force, tends to invite conflict rather than prevent it.

When Trump decided to take action, he ensured that U.S. military efforts were supported by Israel’s formidable military and intelligence resources.

Additionally, Trump is not a crusader nor is he a naive idealist. During his presidency, he has mostly avoided drawn-out military engagements. In fact, the closest he’s come to a long-term conflict was skipping the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

This notion of peace through strength echoes in the strategies of past leaders like Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon. George Washington once noted that preparing for war is an effective way to maintain peace. It’s effective in addressing immediate threats, which diplomacy often fails to resolve.

According to the Heritage Foundation, Trump has structured his administration and military strategies around safeguarding America’s essential interests. Although remnants of previous globalist policies still exist within the federal framework, Trump is implementing reform at a faster pace than many might realize.

This approach isn’t accidental.

Trump’s “peace through strength” policy aims to protect the nation from the pitfalls of prolonged conflicts. Despite his optimistic demeanor, he remains clear-headed about the limited goals related to the Iran conflict, focusing on destabilizing the current regime and empowering the Iranian populace.

In an ideal scenario, Operation Epic Fury would challenge the Republican establishment’s tendency to label America First as “isolationist.” Past conservative critiques against the interventions during the Bush era were far from isolationist, which explains why many are backing Trump’s leadership in the current situation.

A decisive military response to years of aggression and diplomatic delay embodies the idea of peace through strength. Trump’s and his administration’s budget reforms align with this vision, reflected in the candid speeches made at significant security conferences.

Operation Epic Fury remains congruent with Trump’s prior military actions in Iran and Venezuela, as well as his attempts to foster peace in disputes involving Russia and Ukraine. These instances represent the practical application of peace through force, the sole American foreign policy that has genuinely succeeded.
