A “porch pirate” opossum was caught on video stealing a 15-year-old’s box of birthday cookies from his parents’ front door in Texas.
In the January 26 incident, “the gift arrived a little later in the evening, when the family was probably out celebrating, so it went unnoticed until night fell…a seemingly impossible theft took place.” afterward, the Southlake Department of Public Safety said. .
A video released by authorities shows the opossum walking up to the entrance of the home, removing a blue birthday balloon from a box of treats, and then dragging the box away.

“Like humans, there are probably lots of big opossums, but in this story there’s an opossum that’s determined to break the law in its own way, and that frustrates us. You know what? Because the opossum… They usually eat ticks, not cookies,” officials said. Southlake joked.
