Oregon Ducks Strengthen Roster with New Addition
The Oregon Ducks are emerging as potential dark horses in both the Big Ten race and the broader landscape of college basketball as the 2025-26 season approaches. They’re set to bring back key players like point guard Jackson Shelstud and center Nate Bittle from a team that secured 25 wins and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Recently, their roster gained even more depth with a new player joining the ranks.
Lin Wei, a guard from China, has officially committed to the Ducks. His agency made the announcement. Wei, standing at 6’2″, played with the Nanjing Monkey Kings in the Chinese Basketball Association this season, putting up impressive numbers—an average of 21 points, five assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals over 34 games. At just 21 years old, he is eligible to join the Ducks this season.
This season, Wei played with notable former college athletes such as Kendrick Davis (SMU, Memphis), Taco Fall (UCF), Jalen Harris (Nevada), and TJ Leaf, who was a first-round pick in the NBA Draft in 2017.
According to Jon Chepkevich of Draft Express, Wei is 6’1¾” barefoot, 191 pounds, and boasts a wingspan of 6’2″ with a standing reach of 7’11¼”. He has showcased both pull-up shooting and impressive speed during his run at Eurocamp. His highlights can be viewed in various places online.
In college basketball, guard play is pivotal, and the Ducks now have a highly competitive backcourt. Shelstud is considered one of the top guards in the game and is expected to have a remarkable season. Additionally, TJ Simpkins is joining from Elon, standing at 6’5″ and capable of drawing fouls against opponents. With Wei’s offensive prowess established against strong Chinese competition, paired with a formidable player like Bittle, Oregon appears to be in solid shape.
I think Oregon could very well be one of the elite teams this season, especially with Wei on board. The Ducks will face challenges night after night in the Big Ten, which is sure to make it an exciting college season ahead.
