Organic jumbo pumpkin seeds made in Canada are recalled due to salmonella worries.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for organic pumpkin seeds imported from Canada due to potential salmonella contamination.

Advantage Health, based in Ontario, Canada, is recalling its 8-ounce packages of traditional organic jumbo pumpkin seeds.

The FDA indicates that these seeds may carry salmonella, which is notably one of the primary causes of foodborne illnesses globally, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Symptoms of salmonella infection can include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps, as stated by the CDC.

The FDA warns that salmonella can lead to severe and potentially fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

The affected pumpkin seeds were distributed in retail locations across New York, New Jersey, and Virginia, as well as through mail orders.

The recall includes packages marked with lot number L250320200 on the back and an expiration date of May 2, 2027.

This recall stemmed from a supplier issue in another country, as explained by the FDA.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses, but production has been halted while the company looks into the situation.

Customers who have purchased these recalled seeds are encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
