Orioles’ Colton Cowser admits he ‘yeeted’ baseball without knowing importance to Craig Kimbrel

On Saturday night, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Kansas City Royals 9-7, earning their 13th win of the season and helping Craig Kimbrel earn his 422nd career save.

Kimbrel tied Billy Wagner for seventh place on MLB’s all-time save list, but what Colton Cowser did in baseball’s milestone game was a little jarring. Kauser made the winning out and threw the ball from behind into the Kauffman Stadium fountain.

“I felt it behind me,” he explained to reporters after the game. Via MLB.com.

“As soon as I threw it, I said, ‘Craig makes a lot of saves, so that save might have been important.’ I literally said that.” [his teammate Cedric Mullins] I always think that I might have failed. And it turns out I did. I still managed to get the ball back though. ”

Cowser tried to find the ball after the game. According to MLB.com, there were two balls at the bottom of the fountain. Because one of them was older, it was easy to determine which ball should have gone to Kimbrel first. Stadium officials eventually retrieved the baseball and placed it in the visitors’ clubhouse.

Even though other Orioles players lambasted Cowser, Kimbrel remained unfazed.

He said, “Okay, no one cares. Let’s talk to the certifier here a little bit more and see what they think.” “There was some hurt, but I could tell he was a little distraught about it. I told him not to worry too much and not to lose sleep.”

Kimbrel has five more saves, a 1.00 ERA, and 14 strikeouts.

Next on the list is Jon Franco, who ranks sixth all-time with 424 saves. Kenley Jansen of the Boston Red Sox currently ranks fifth with 425 saves.
