The Orioles won't have yet another player coming on the first day, where Grayson Rodriguez is expected to miss the start of the season.
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde announced Friday that 25-year-old Rodriguez will begin the season with a list injured due to elbow/triceps pain. Follow the Baltimore Sun.
Hyde also revealed that Rodriguez gets a second opinion on an arm injury.
The timeline back is not clear.
On the right, Rodriguez dealt with triceps pain on Thursday, the day after his start with the twins, who saw the pitch in just 1/3 innings.
“We still get multiple opinions because we have some discomfort behind his elbow. We're not worried about it because it's not a ligament issue. But it's going to miss some time.” Hyde told MLB.com on Friday. “We're getting results. We're talking to multiple people about treatments and stuff for now. The timeline, I don't know about that. But it's not the ligament.”
Rodriguez suffered numerous injuries during the 2024 season and missed time in May before a season-ending injury in August.
Rodriguez made a promise while on the mound last season, scoring an ERA of 3.86 in 20 starts to score a 13-4 record.
Rodriguez is expected to lead the pitching staff this season as Baltimore lost Corbin Burns and John Means to free agency.
Rodriguez's injury is the latest addition to many of the Orioles players currently ahead of the opening day of the IL.

Baltimore will also not have starting pitchers Trevor Rogers and Kyle Bradish at the beginning of the season.
Rogers (right knee) is expected to return at the beginning of May, and Bradish will be out for an All-Star break when he recovers from Tommy John's surgery.
