Why does Hollywood have all the fun? On Sunday, silver screen stars gather to celebrate the evening. It's a good time to look back at our world's biggest performances and give them props.

We split the year that became an Oscar theme category and awarded awards to great players, coaches and photos of 2024. These are the people who defined the year and continue to turn the game into the future.

Shohei Ohtani transcended baseball in 2024. NLMVP wasn't the best player in the sport, but he redefines what he thought he knew about MLB athletes. This is a man in the year that entered the year who chose not to pitch to save his body.

Watching Otani play is an experience of other words, and even if you don't feel affinity with the team, the Dodgers have made a must-see TV. The measure of athletes may not be how sports fans perceive them, or how many people the number of non-sport fans is interested in for them. Otani has that ability and as a result, he changed baseball.

The best actress in the lead role [women’s MVP in all sports]

Simone Biles

There are many women who earn the rights of the entire MVP. This was undoubtedly Kate Linklark's first Oscar snub, but it's impossible to overlook Simone Biles, who returns to the Olympics in 2024 and proves she is a goat.

The 27-year-old gymnast continues to ignore all concepts of preconceived notions about the age of the sport, turning back the clock to win three gold medals and silver in Paris. There is a debate that Berkley was. The Eagles star at this year's Super Bowl run. But the recognition has long been that Buck is a role player, not a star.

Barkley changed everything in 2024. He not only took over much of his duties with Jalen Hurts in Tush Push before, but he was the most impactful running back we've seen in modern times. It would have been easy for Barkley to pursue glory and get a single-season rushing record, but instead he wanted to focus on bringing home the Philadelphia Lombardi Trophy.

The role of running back has been in the spotlight in 2024. Berkley was one of the biggest reasons. The quarterback may still attract all the attention, but Berkley has gone beyond his role as a puzzle piece and has become the second most important player on the team in the sport.

Best Actresses in Supporting Roles [best 2nd option]

The support actor/actress category is always appealing, whether it's an Oscar or an unofficial “sports oscar.”

A lot of Kate Linklarks did that A story of the WNBA season. Clark played very well as an Indiana Fever rookie, securing 66 of the 67 votes and earning the WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Other votes? It went to Angel Reese, who had her own incredible debut season.

Lewis Hamilton wins with Silverstone

One of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history, Lewis Hamilton was beginning to question himself.

He has not reached the top step on the podium since the 2021 season. This ended with Hamilton at the end of an epic battle with Max Burstappen for the Formula One driver's championship that fell on the final lap of the season. The outcome of Verstappen, which won the title in a controversial way, is still debated today, and we're dinering in Hamilton.

However, at his final British Grand Prix with Mercedes, Hamilton turned down a straight that bears his name and won again.
