Parenting is an exercise in constant chaos management. Every parent knows the never-ending struggle of getting our kids fed, dressed, and out the door in time for everything: school, appointments, birthday parties, etc. In fact, the last two Sundays, we left the house to go to church and forgot our toddler’s shoes.
But today, domestic chaos is the least of our concerns. Our broader culture troubles parents in far more serious and disturbing ways. The institutions that parents once trusted now actively seek to undermine their authority, posing new dangers for children.
Many of these challenges are designed to circumvent parental knowledge and limit our ability to protect our children. From harmful content from Big Tech and a deluge of toxic messaging from Hollywood, to teacher union takeovers of schools, to laws that strip parents of their right to a say in their children’s health, parental authority is being undermined at every turn. Where once parents were in charge, now they’re being told to step back.
To face this new reality, we need to give parents new tools. This is why our organization American Parents United (APC) Observatory, A free Parental Notification system that provides parents with important updates directly via text. These updates expose hidden threats to children and offer practical advice for raising children in a political and cultural environment where ideological agendas often take priority over the welfare of children.
It is delivered directly to the parents’ mobile phones. Observatory is a free resource designed to deepen your awareness of parenthood’s most pressing challenges in an accessible way, without distracting from the attention that parenting requires every day.
Perhaps the most pernicious challenge facing parents today is the erosion of trust in schools. Teachers and administrators have long been viewed as trusted guardians of impressionable children, working closely with parents for their children’s best interests. But now, privileged administrators and activist educators act as if they should have complete control over their students, often to the exclusion of parents. Today’s administrators hide Parental concerns about children’s mental health, Selling Pornographic content in school libraries, and Smuggle Ideological materials that are unrelated to the core teaching in the classroom.
These institutions impose certain values on our children that are contrary to their parents’ beliefs, instilling life-changing beliefs and morals while we are not watching. Parents have a right to know what is going on with their children and that is why APC was launched. Observatory As a helpful free tool.
Each look out There will be a different focus based on topics and news that are particularly relevant to parents. First Article We focus on Scholastic and their ubiquitous book fair flyers. According to their website, Scholastic is present in 115,000 schools in the United States, reaching 54 million students. In our household, we have seen first-hand that several books featured in the flyers promote gender ideology and introduce sexual concepts that are inappropriate for young children. This led us to investigate Scholastic’s website and to their “A resource guide to read with prideThe guide also includes books for preschoolers, with an emphasis on “LGBTQIA+ children’s and young adults’ literature,” and includes a glossary of gender-related terms and sexuality definitions, such as “alosexual” and “two-spirit.” The guide promotes books on these topics and markets them directly to children through flyers.
Finally, we don’t want to report an issue without offering some support and guidance on how to make the situation better in a way that’s right for your family. We always provide resources specific to the issue we’re highlighting, such as conversation guides, questions, how-to’s, and links to data and research.
