Our unwanted Biden-Trump rematch is a sign of the political times

Most Americans, including myself, don’t want a President Joe Biden or Donald Trump. serve Second term. Many people cannot understand how an 81-year-old, who looks and acts the same age, can compete with a 77-year-old who can reconcile truth and fact in any situation.Certainly, there are other options in this country almost 350 million Does it have to be available?

So is this matchup a coincidence of politics and fate? Or is it a predictable outcome of the current state of American politics and an accurate reflection of what we can expect from both parties?

In other words, is Biden vs. Trump the new normal in American politics and government rather than a grotesque anomaly?

If this radical interpretation of American politics is indeed accurate, understanding how we got here is an important first step in determining where this country is headed. This is the step. And the unusual behavior of members of both political parties provides ample evidence that there is something just as obviously corrupt in Washington and the country as it is in Denmark.

Corruption, in my view Began August 1964.

I have previously referred to this as the beginning of a decline in the legitimacy of the US government. Gulf of Tonkin solution That drove America into the Vietnam War. With only two negative votes in Congress, the United States began military action. Retaliation North Vietnam’s attack on two U.S. destroyers on the high seas – a catastrophic mistake that would be repeated almost 40 years later, except there was no attack. not exist Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

Vietnam was not the only factor that convinced most Americans that their government could not be trusted. The legitimacy of America’s foundational institutions, from the Boy Scouts to big business and from Congress to the Supreme Court, has been shattered in the eyes of many. In this process, the political, cultural, social, ideological and ethical differences between the two parties became irreparable.

Civility and compromise are gone.President George W. Bush challenge “You’re either with us or with the terrorists” is the law of the land. In the past, religion and race often defined the boundaries of marriage. Now Democrats and Republicans incompatibility The same goes for married life.

At the same time, as financial and stock markets soared (albeit with occasional setbacks), wealth inequality widened. the richest Americans control or own most of the GDP. And money continues to pollute politics. Today, the effects of inflation and deficit spending mandated by the coronavirus crisis are at large. increased Daily living expenses for most Americans.

of feeling In America, the situation worsened. And the gulf between Democrats and Republicans means the percentage of Americans who are undecided about elections will continue to decline. In 2016 and his 2020, the existence of the Electoral College meant that the presidency was decided He won by about 200,000 votes in a handful of states and districts.

In retrospect, the emergence of Donald Trump was not surprising. In every sense of the word, from business to personal life, Trump is too big to be bound by the rules.

While claiming his wealth, in billions, Trump is appealing to former Democrats and the working class and attacking the so-called wealthy elite. Mr. Trump is a natural showman, thanks to his experience on television and on various “Celebrity Apprentice” shows. His campaign rallies are full of Trump’s personality, and he is as persuasive and addictive as the Pied Piper.

Trump fills a need for many Americans who feel resentful and angry about his outlook on life. And in New York, the so-calledHush money” and did not diminish his popularity. It remains to be seen how much the ruling will affect this.

Biden is a traditional Democrat whose record in government is the basis for his reelection. Age was not an issue when Barack Obama chose him to be his vice president. Hillary Clinton won the nomination in 2016 and lost. That means Biden would have been a surefire favorite in 2020, when he will be 77 years old.

It’s clear why this election is representative of American politics. Mr. Trump satisfies his desire for dissent and disagreement. And he completely transformed the Republican Party into the party of Trump.

Biden is a traditional Democratic politician in a party that has yet to go through the same changes that Trump imposed on the Republican Party. This racism therefore does not mark an aberration, but rather reflects a new trajectory in American politics. It’s unclear who will win.

But if Trump loses, will he run in 2028? After all, he will only be 81 years old.
