Over 150 Dems vote to keep rapists, wife-beaters safe from deportation

More than 150 Democrats on Wednesday voted against a House bill that would deport undocumented immigrants convicted of sex crimes or conspiracy to commit sex crimes.

“The bill applies to non-U.S. nationals who have admitted to or been convicted of conduct that constitutes an essential element of the crimes of domestic violence or sexual assault, including conspiring to commit a sexual assault,” it added.

The bill has attracted numerous Republican co-sponsors, including Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Andy Harris of Maryland, Laurel M. Lee of Florida, Troy E. Nehls of Texas and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania.

The bill finally passed the House on Wednesday, with every Republican in the House voting in favor and 51 Democrats voting in favor. 158 Democrats voted against the bill..

Ahead of the vote, Mace told Fox News Digital that he “100 percent” expected some Democrats to vote against the bill.

“If you vote against this, you're sexist against women,” Mace said.

“Really, we're talking about illegal immigrants who are committing domestic violence, rape and murder of women and children, so they have to go. They should not be allowed into our country,” she added.

Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), one of the Democrats who voted against the bill, argued that the bill would somehow negatively impact victims of domestic violence.

“We're also debating partisan bills that stoke fear about immigrants instead of working together to fix our immigration system,” she said. “I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised. Scapegoating immigrants and weaponizing the crime of domestic violence seems to be a time-honored Republican tradition.”

Rep. Byron Donald (R-Fla.) argued that Democrats “voted against common sense” and compromised the “safety” of Americans.

“And we all deserve to be treated better,” he added. “Please remember this.”
